The Southern Water Tribe was destroyed completely by the Fire Nation. Those who hadn't fled already were either killed or imprisoned: the young and physically fit were imprisoned or sent to work for the Fire Nation factories and farmlands; the elderly were killed or sent to make clothing or serve the wealthy families; babies and very small children were sent to be trained for the military. This land is now overrun with military factories.
